History & Geography of Kumushkon

Nestled in the foothills of the majestic Chatkal Mountains at around 1,200 meters above sea level, Kumushkon — meaning “silver spring” in Uzbek — has been a cherished retreat for centuries. Historical records trace seasonal settlements here back more than 500 years, when travelers and traders stopped in the valley to rest along the ancient routes linking the Fergana Valley with Samarkand and Bukhara.

The region’s fertile soils and abundant water shaped Kumushkon into a cradle of traditional mountain life. Generations of shepherds and farmers built small hamlets across the slopes, preserving a culture deeply tied to nature, hospitality, and balance — values that continue to define the spirit of the land today. Even today, you’ll find over 40 natural springs in the surrounding hills, many known locally for their mineral content and health benefits.

Geographically, Kumushkon lies within the Parkent district of Tashkent region, about 65 km east of Tashkent city — roughly a 1 hour and 15 minute drive from the capital. Here, rolling hills meet alpine forests and crystal-clear rivers fed by snowmelt from the Chatkal peaks. The valley enjoys a unique microclimate with over 280 sunny days per year, warm summers averaging +28 °C, and crisp winters ideal for year-round recreation.

Today, Kumushkon remains one of Uzbekistan’s most unspoiled mountain destinations, blending centuries of tradition with spectacular nature. It is here that Kumushkon Family Resort was created — a modern retreat that honors the land’s timeless character while offering contemporary comfort, memorable family experiences, and a deep connection to the beauty of the Uzbek mountains.
